Written and directed by Scott Lyus, "Black Mass" unfolds the poignant story of a father and his two adopted daughters, grappling with the profound loss of their beloved mother and wife. Their journey through mourning is far from solitary, as they find themselves tormented by a malevolent entity known simply as Darkness. This spectral presence brings a tangible chill to their already frostbitten lives, embodying the inescapable void left by their loss.

Meanwhile, James Swanton's portrayal of Darkness adds a layer of menacing intrigue, his presence looming over the narrative like a spectre of despair.

The character design for Darkness is notably striking, enhancing the film's eerie atmosphere with its remarkable visual interpretation. Coupled with Neal Parsons' cinematography, the film adopts a profoundly claustrophobic and despair-laden tone, magnificently encapsulating the essence of the narrative's haunting themes. The atmospheric tension of the film is beautifully underscored by Mitch Bain's compelling music composition, which perfectly rounds off the cinematic experience with its evocative tones and haunting melodies.
